UTMB World Series announced on Wednesday 4 November that Wildstrubel in Switzerland and HOKA Canyons in California will become Majors from 2027. Their addition brings the number of 2027 UTMB World Series Majors to six.

Two new Majors in 2027

Wildstrubel by UTMB and HOKA Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB join four other Majors: HOKA Ultra-Trail Australia, HOKA Val d’Aran, HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathons and HOKA Chiang Mai Thailand.

Majors offer twice as many Running Stones as the other World Series races for the Finals lottery. In addition, the top ten men and women in the 100M, 100K and 50K categories qualify automatically for the Finals.

Wildstrubel: dates and registration in Switzerland

Wildstrubel by UTMB becomes a Major after five editions. The race crosses the Wildstrubel massif and connects five mountain destinations: Crans-Montana, Leukerbad, Adelboden, Lenk and Kandersteg, across the Swiss cantons of Valais and Bern.

The 2027 edition will take place from 9 to 12 September. Registration will open on 17 November 2026 for runners with a UTMB Index and on 19 November for the general public, at wildstrubel.utmb.world. The race offers 100 charity bibs and the option to make donations during registration.

“Becoming a UTMB® World Series Major after just five editions is a source of immense pride. This recognition belongs first and foremost to our local committee, volunteers and institutional partners, who have driven this project forward together from the beginning,” says Ryan Baumann, race director of Wildstrubel by UTMB.

Canyons: April 2027 in California

HOKA Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB has been held in Auburn, California, for twelve years, with routes crossing the Sierra Nevada. Its 2027 edition will take place from 22 to 25 April in Auburn, and registration is already open.

Race director Chaz Sheya says there will be twice as many Running Stones at stake and an international live broadcast.
