The charity race Valencia contra el Cáncer (Valencia Against Cancer) has a new date: it will be held on Sunday 22 November, starting and finishing on the Paseo de la Alameda, between the Exposición and Flores bridges. The Spanish Association Against Cancer’s event in Valencia was due on 18 October, but an orange alert for heavy rain forced its postponement when thousands of participants already had their bibs at home.
For those already registered, the news is simple: there is nothing to do. Entries and bibs remain valid for the new date, with no paperwork. Online registration has reopened until Wednesday 18 November at 14:00, and the bib keeps its price, 5 euros that go entirely to cancer research.
Six kilometres and four ways to take part
The loop is the same for every format: a flat 6 kilometres, starting and finishing on the Alameda, with a drink station at the Torres de Quart. The competitive race goes first, at 8:30, with pens arranged by the pace each runner gave when registering. The public skate follows, at 8:45 according to the organisers’ latest schedule, and mid-morning Nordic walking starts at 10:00 and the walk at 10:05.
The walk is the most open format of all: it is the only one where you can bring a pushchair or a pet. The race, on the other hand, will hold its award ceremony at 9:15 on the finish podium, while many of the walkers are still warming up. The bag drop is free and opens at 7:30 in the tents at the start.
Anyone who cannot make it on the 22nd but still wants to help can buy the so-called zero bib, with donations of 5, 10, 20 or 30 euros, also until 18 November. After the race, the morning continues in the finish area with a free fitness session from 11:15 to 12:00.
Bib collection moves
Collection moves to the La Petxina Sports and Cultural Complex: Friday 20 November, from 15:00 to 20:00, and Saturday 21, from 10:00 to 20:00. It is for those who register now and for those who did not collect their bib at Feria Valencia on 16 and 17 October, before the postponement. Anyone who already has one just needs to keep it until race day.
For the non-competitive formats there are still in-person sales at the association’s office at Avenida del Puerto 13 and on the sports floors of El Corte Inglés in Nuevo Centro, Pintor Sorolla and Avenida de Francia, as well as Hipercor Ademuz. The race can only be entered online.
The deadline to request a refund of the five euros, intended for those unable to attend on the new date, closed on Friday 30 October at 15:00. Those who did not ask for it keep their contribution as a donation, which is, after all, the point of the event.
A race that keeps growing
The postponement comes at the best moment in its history. In 2025 it brought together 20,304 participants and raised 101,520 euros, its largest edition so far. A year earlier there had been 18,107 people and 90,535 euros, and in 2016 it barely topped 5,000. In a decade it has quadrupled in size without changing the formula: a short course, a cheap bib and a clear destination for every euro.
That money funds cancer research projects run by the association in Valencia with young researchers. The race is part of the RunCáncer series, which in 2025 drew 113,752 participants and 564,228 euros across 115 walks and 12 races, and which in its twelfth edition reaches more than a hundred towns. It is organised by the association with the City Council’s Municipal Sports Foundation, with main support from the Valencia Provincial Council and around forty companies and institutions.
November, a month of bibs in Valencia
The new date fits the race into a busy November for running in Valencia, exactly two weeks before the Valencia Marathon on 6 December. More than one marathoner will find these six kilometres an easy, meaningful run in the middle of their taper, with no need to look at the watch.
For beginners, it is one of the best ways into running in the city: a manageable distance, a party atmosphere and no pressure about time. All the practical details are in our Valencia contra el Cáncer 2026 race guide, and there are more events in the same series across the province, such as RunCáncer Alcàsser. Times and conditions may change: the official event website is always the reference.
