The Circuit Valencia Ciudad del Running is now open to the public with its extension towards the sea. Following the completion of the works, the route in València’s Turia Gardens reaches nearly eight kilometres this Wednesday 4 November, with an additional 2.1 kilometres.

From 5,731 metres to nearly eight kilometres

The work completes the 2.1 kilometres planned in the project and extends the route, which was originally 5,731 metres long. The extension retains the technical and comfort features of the Circuit for runners.

The opening comes just a few weeks before the Valencia Marathon. According to the official announcement, the Circuit is the city’s most used facility, with more than 700,000 uses or training sessions a year.

From section XII to the end of the former riverbed

The extension continues the original running route from section XII of the Turia Gardens, located between Gulliver Park and Monteolivete Bridge. From there, it extends to section XVI, at the current end of the former riverbed.

Investment, maintenance and mural

The Fundación Trinidad Alfonso, chaired by Juan Roig, has led the project in collaboration with València City Council. The Foundation has covered the entire investment, which amounts to approximately 2.1 million euros, and will also be responsible for maintaining the facility until 2029.

The extension includes an artistic mural related to running beneath the l’Assut de l’Or bridge. It is the work of On Point Studio and covers approximately 80 square metres: 32 metres long by 2.5 metres high.
