The American brand combines decades of experience with a broad range of foams, geometries and stability systems. Its catalogue includes reliable shoes for accumulating mileage, lightweight models for faster paces and carbon-plated super shoes. Its main strength is that it does not force every runner into the same underfoot experience, although there are important differences in fit, weight, durability, price and technical demands.

A brand with a different response for every workout

The Saucony Ride family represents the brand’s balance point. These are neutral daily trainers with enough cushioning for regular runs and a platform that feels secure. The Ride 19 stands out with a 38.7-millimeter heel and a 30.2-millimeter forefoot, as well as energy-return figures of 66.7% in the heel and 70.7% in the forefoot according to the available reference data. It is the kind of model that can handle much of a recreational runner’s weekly training.

Above that option sits the Triumph line, aimed at runners who prioritize protection and comfort over long distances. The Triumph 23 reaches 42.3 millimeters in the heel and records shock-absorption values of 149 SA in the heel and 136 SA in the forefoot. It is a substantial and not especially agile shoe, but that presence underfoot is valuable when the road feels hard and the legs have accumulated miles.

Which Saucony model fits each type of runner

The choice should not start with the brand name, but with actual use. For running three or four times a week at comfortable paces, a neutral daily trainer usually makes more sense than a super shoe. The Ride 19 is the most versatile option in the range, while the Triumph 23 provides more foam and protection for runners who prefer a cushioned ride or regularly run long distances.

Runners who combine easy runs with pace changes may find the Endorphin Speed 5 a livelier solution. Its approximate weight of 241 grams and energy return of 73.2% in the heel and 78.2% in the forefoot place it clearly above a conventional shoe in responsiveness. The nylon plate adds structure while preserving a more natural flex than many carbon plates, which is useful for varied workouts rather than racing alone.

The Kinvara 16 follows a different philosophy. Its profile is lower, the drop is around 4.5 millimeters and its weight is approximately 207 grams. The flexible midsole encourages a closer-to-the-ground feel and a light stride, although it offers less protection and durability than more robust alternatives. It is not a universal choice for beginners, especially when runners are not used to low drops or have calf and Achilles tendon issues.

For runners with a specific need for stability, the Guide 19 and Hurricane 25 are the most relevant references. The importance of PWRRUN foams

A significant part of Saucony’s ride is explained by its midsole compounds. PWRRUN is a versatile, stable and relatively durable foam commonly used in training and support shoes. PWRRUN+ provides a more elastic response and a somewhat more premium feel, while PWRRUN PB, based on higher-performance polymers, appears in shoes designed to deliver more lightness and bounce.

Foam alone does not define a shoe’s quality. Its amount, geometry, platform width, outsole and the way the upper holds the foot also matter. A very soft midsole may feel pleasant initially, but lose precision in corners or feel unstable if the platform is narrow. Saucony for trail: a different construction logic

The trail range relies on lugged outsoles and specific compounds, as well as protections that are rarely found in road shoes. Peregrine is the most versatile option for varied trails, while Xodus Ultra offers more comfort and protection over long distances. The brand is at its best when runners choose the right family instead of following the most eye-catching name. A comfortable, stable shoe with a correct fit can provide more enjoyable miles than a racing model that is too demanding.
