Travessa d’Encamp 2027: dates, routes and registration
Encamp hosts a mountain running weekend with five distances, a new team relay and races for children.

The OTSO Travessa d’Encamp 2027 will take place from 28 to 30 May in Encamp, Andorra, with five courses of 7, 14, 21, 42 and 84 kilometres. The 44th edition adds an 84 km relay for teams of four and retains the vertical kilometre and children’s races.
Registration is open and Plaça dels Arínsols will be the centre of the event. The competition is the second round of the Spanish FEDME Ultra Cup, although the distance counting towards the competition will be specified in the 2027 regulations.
Race dates and programme
The event spreads its races from Friday to Sunday. The individual and relay ultra races and the 42 km race are scheduled to start on Saturday morning. The programme for each day is as follows:
- Friday 28 May: vertical kilometre and bib collection for the vertical, children’s races, 42K and 84K.
- Saturday 29 May: individual and relay 84K start at 05:00, 42K starts at 09:00, followed by the children’s races. Bibs for the 21K, 14K and 7K can also be collected.
- Sunday 30 May: 21, 14 and 7 km races, prizegiving and paella for participants and supporters with advance booking.
Bibs can also be collected up to 30 minutes before the start of each race. The organiser recommends collecting them the previous day where possible. Another person can collect a runner’s bib with a photograph or photocopy of their identity document.
From 7 km to the ultra: distances and relay
The shortest race is 7 km and is designed as an introduction to mountain running, including for walkers. The 14K offers a middle distance, while the 21K and 42K involve a longer effort over mountain terrain. Distance alone does not make them comparable with road races: climbs, descents and trail conditions all affect the time needed.
The individual 84K is the longest option. In 2027 it is joined by a relay for teams of four, who divide the course into four legs. When organising a relay entry, check the leg breakdown and changeover conditions in the regulations rather than assuming that each runner will cover the same distance.
The vertical kilometre presents a different challenge, focused on climbing. In the 2026 edition, it climbed more than 1,000 metres over less than 5 km on a route towards Cap de Rep; those figures describe the previous race and are not confirmation of the 2027 course.
The children’s races are non-competitive and are intended for children aged 6 to 11. There is no podium or trophy, and the aid stations included in the other races are not provided for these participants.
Registration, insurance and entry conditions
Entries can be made through the official race page. Registration includes a personalised bib, T-shirt and socks for the edition, as well as a medal for runners who finish their race. It also covers aid stations, except in the children’s races, and drop-bag transport for the 84K.
The entry fee does not include medical insurance or mandatory equipment. Participants without a valid mountain, mountain running or athletics federation licence that covers the race must purchase the organiser’s insurance during registration. Private medical insurance is not accepted in place of that requirement.
The organiser states that entries are non-refundable for injury or personal reasons, or if the event is fully or partly cancelled for reasons outside its control. Before paying, also check the conditions for changing the name on an entry: a no-refund policy does not by itself establish whether a bib can be transferred.
For runners travelling from Spain, medical and rescue cover during a mountain race in Andorra deserves a specific check. The insurance required to take part and the protection needed during the rest of the trip are separate matters.
Mandatory kit by distance
Equipment requirements vary between races. Every event listed by the organiser requires a phone capable of making calls from Andorra, a cup and a hooded waterproof jacket. No cups will be provided at aid stations, so runners need their own container to drink during the race.
For the 7K and 14K, those three items make up the mandatory list. The 21K adds an emergency blanket measuring at least 1.4 by 2.1 metres. A headlamp with batteries is also required for the vertical kilometre.
For the 42K, runners must also carry a whistle, headwear covering the ears and a supply of both food and drink, as well as the blanket. Poles, gloves and a first-aid kit are among the optional items for this distance.
The 84K also requires a headlamp with spare batteries, a flashing red light, gloves, sunscreen, long tights or trousers and anti-chafing cream, alongside the other mandatory 42K items. Poles, a first-aid kit and a spare headlamp are optional.
Relay teams should not assume how equipment can be shared between runners. The 2027 regulations should specify the conditions applicable to each participant and may update the kit requirements.
Bibs, services and getting to Encamp
Plaça dels Arínsols is the centre of event activity and bib collection. A bag drop will be available inside the Comú d’Encamp building; runners must show their bib both when leaving and collecting belongings. Public toilets in the same building will be available during event and bib collection hours.
Runners can use the changing rooms and showers at the Complex Esportiu d’Encamp by showing their bib at reception. The centre will keep its normal opening hours, with no special extension for the race: an important detail for runners finishing a long event.
Encamp has bus connections to other Andorran towns and paid public car parks near the start area. There is no dedicated participant parking. The organiser is not setting up special overnight areas for campervans either, although the town has existing motorhome facilities, including Terres Primeres Alt and Les Feixes.
Accommodation is arranged independently, with no announced agreements with lodging providers. For the ultra’s 05:00 start, the distance between accommodation and the square can affect the time available before entering the start pen. It is also worth checking that a mobile phone can make calls from Andorra and understanding the conditions for using it there.
Prizes and a shared day at the finish
The first three men and women in the overall standings of each race receive a trophy. There is prize money in the men’s and women’s 21K, 42K, individual 84K and relay 84K. Age-category standings are published, but those categories have no separate podiums or prizes.
In the relay, all four team members receive a medal if their team completes the course. The first three men’s and women’s teams reach the podium; mixed teams have their own standings but are not eligible for a podium place or trophy.
On Sunday, a paella meal with meat and vegetarian options will be available to runners and supporters. Portions require advance booking, either during registration or by contacting the organiser. This is separate from the aid stations included in the race.
