The Paris Marathon celebrates its 50th edition on Sunday 4 April 2027, with a new name (ASICS Marathon de Paris), new organisers and around 60,000 runners. Bibs were allocated by ballot in October; if you have yours, it is time to find somewhere to stay. On 1 November, for race weekend (Friday 2 to Sunday 4 April), Booking listed 2,662 places to stay in Paris with free cancellation and a score of 7 or more for two people, with prices ranging from about €75 a night to over €800 depending on the area. Comparing the same properties, it costs the same as the following weekend.

An important note: the organisers have not yet published the 2027 course and will present it early in the year. This guide uses the usual start on the Champs-Élysées as its reference. Up here you can see how many places are left and how prices are moving, updated every week; below, the areas that are good value with the metro.

Where everything is

  • Start: in recent editions, on the Champs-Élysées by the Arc de Triomphe. The 2027 course is still to be confirmed.
  • Metro: line 1 runs under the Champs-Élysées (Charles de Gaulle-Étoile, George V, Franklin D. Roosevelt) and across the centre: Concorde, Louvre, Châtelet, Saint-Paul and Bastille. It is the line that matters.
  • Bibs: at the runners’ expo in the days before. The organisers will publish the venue and opening hours.
  • Entry fee: €169, with charity places on top.

Champs-Élysées and Chaillot: next to the start, and you pay for it

Within 5 to 27 minutes on foot there were 16 places left at a median of €876 a night: grand-hotel territory. Below that, Hôtel Keppler (score 9.3, 14 minutes) was €364 and Hôtel du Rond-point des Champs-Élysées (score 9.2, 5 minutes) €382.

Batignolles, Montmartre and the 17th: line 2 takes you to Étoile

Line 2 loops round the north of Paris and passes through Charles de Gaulle-Étoile, at the top of the Champs-Élysées. In Batignolles and the 17th there were 4 places at a median of €137, and in Montmartre and Gare du Nord, 23 at €144. It is the best balance of price and access to the start.

Louvre, Les Halles and the Marais: the centre, on line 1

This is the area with the most choice, 81 places, but expensive: a median of €500. Line 1 takes you from Saint-Paul or Châtelet to the Champs-Élysées without changing. Hôtel Mansart (score 9.5, in the 1st) was €384.

Left Bank and the south

In the 5th, 6th, 7th and 15th there were 21 places at a median of €465, though some started at €139; in the 13th and 14th, 10 at €144. Line 6 runs from Montparnasse to Étoile without changing.

Which nights to book

Properties with free cancellation and a score of 7 or more on 1 November, for two adults:

NightsPlaces availableMedian per nightCheapest per night
Friday 2 to Sunday 4 (2 nights)2,662—€74
Saturday 3 to Sunday 4 (1 night)1,735€194€81
Reference: Friday 9 to Sunday 11 (2 nights)2,870—€82
  • The marathon does not push Paris prices up: comparing the same properties, it costs the same as the following weekend.
  • Friday and Saturday gives much more choice than Saturday night alone (2,662 places against 1,735).
  • Saturday night alone had a median of €194, in a sample spread more evenly across the city.

Five things to check before you pay

  1. Free cancellation and its deadline. With the course not yet published, it is worth being able to change hotel.
  2. The nearest metro station and its line: lines 1, 2 and 6 reach Étoile without changing.
  3. Room size: double rooms in Paris are small; check the square metres.
  4. The tourist tax, paid separately per person per night.
  5. Early breakfast on Sunday, if the start is early.

The whole journey matters more than the station

Proximity to the metro is only one part of the logistics: when comparing neighbourhoods, it is worth looking at the door-to-door journey, from your accommodation to the designated runners’ entrance. The walking distance to a station, possible waiting time and finding your bearings on exit also matter, especially when travelling with warm clothing or a bag.

A direct connection makes the journey simpler, but not all rooms in the same neighbourhood are equally close to the stop. Before deciding, it is worth checking the exact address and the walking route, rather than choosing solely on the basis of the area’s name. It is also useful to check timetables and possible transport disruptions as the race approaches.

What is known about the course and how to use it to choose an area

On previous courses, the marathon has passed landmarks such as Place de la Concorde, the Louvre and the Bastille, as well as running alongside the Seine. These give an idea of the urban character of the race, but do not guarantee that the 2027 route will pass the same places.

When the map is published, it will be worth looking beyond the start: the finish location may change how convenient each accommodation option is. A neighbourhood that is convenient for getting to the race may not be the most practical for returning afterwards, when walking with a bag and tired legs may be less appealing.

The map will also make it possible to check the elevation profile and turns, as well as the aid stations and planned access points. Until then, it would be unreliable to prepare a strategy for a particular climb or choose a station for the return journey on the assumption that the finish will be where it was in another edition.

Arriving in Paris and travelling back after the race

When planning your trip, it is worth bringing together your arrival in the city, accommodation and race-related travel into one itinerary. A straightforward journey to the race venue may lose some of its advantage if the transfer from the station or airport involves several changes with luggage. Considering the logistics of the whole trip helps you compare options using broader criteria than proximity to a stop.

Sunday presents a different situation from the journey to the start. You may need to collect your belongings, change and get to the station or airport after the marathon. Checking your accommodation’s checkout time and luggage storage options allows you to plan that return journey without assuming the room will still be available when you finish.

If you plan to travel home on the same day, it is sensible to allow plenty of time between your estimated finish time and your transport. That interval depends on more than just your race pace: it also includes the walk to the venue exit, meeting up with companions and the onward journey.

The race number and travel conditions

Submitting an entry application does not in itself mean you have a place. For those who have taken part in the process, the key is the entry status and any outstanding confirmation or payment indicated by the organisers. Being clear about this helps distinguish a registered application from a confirmed place.

The organisers also offer options linked to teams and charitable causes, with conditions worth checking before booking. An authorised agency, meanwhile, offers race entries only as part of travel packages. In that case, it is important to distinguish the package conditions from those of an individual entry and check what happens to each service if the trip is cancelled.

The expo and kit as part of the itinerary

Collecting your race number is not a simple formality you can assume will be sorted on arrival in Paris: it takes up part of the trip and affects your travel plans before the race. Once the details for the edition are known, it will be useful to check what documentation is required and who can collect it, rather than assuming another year’s instructions still apply.

It is also worth preparing your running essentials separately from your travel luggage. Knowing where your shoes, clothing and items tested during training are makes it easier to check that everything is ready before leaving your accommodation. The expo can be a chance to discover kit, but there is no need to use anything new during the marathon.

Preparing to run and get around in a large city

Preparing for an urban marathon is not just about building up mileage. Training at a controlled effort when other runners are around helps you avoid relying on a clear space to maintain your own pace. You can also practise drinking on the move, so that taking refreshments does not become an improvised manoeuvre on race day.

Fuelling during long runs helps you find out what you can tolerate before racing; there is no universal approach that should be copied without considering individual needs. If you have health-related concerns or particular dietary requirements, discuss them with a healthcare professional. Until the course is known, your pace goal should remain flexible.

For supporters, the final map will be just as important: it will allow them to choose meeting points and work out how to get around without relying on crossing the course. Agreeing on a recognisable meeting place for after the finish may be more practical than hoping to find one another in the crowd immediately afterwards.

How we got these prices

We searched Booking on 1 November 2026 for two adults in one room, for three stays: Friday 2 to Sunday 4 and Saturday 3 to Sunday 4 April, plus the following weekend as a reference. We filtered for free cancellation and a score of 7 or more, and combined the results sorted by price, score, distance and Booking’s own recommendations: a sample of about 200 of the more than 2,600 places available for Friday and Saturday, tilted towards the centre and the most expensive places; that is why we give no median for those two nights. Walking times are measured along real streets from the Champs-Élysées, the start of recent editions, because the 2027 course has not been published. Prices are the ones any user sees, without loyalty discounts or tourist tax; the price per night is the total divided by the nights. Prices change daily.
