The Zurich Marató de Barcelona is on Sunday 14 March 2027, with the field expanded to 37,000 bibs. Since 2026 it has started on Passeig de Gràcia, right in the centre, and that changes how to look for accommodation: there is plenty within a short walk of the start. On 1 November, for race weekend (Friday 12 to Sunday 14 March), Booking listed 691 places to stay in Barcelona with free cancellation and a score of 7 or more, at a median of €233 a night for two people. The same property cost on average 20% more than the following weekend.
Up here you can see how many places are left and how prices are moving, updated every week; below, which areas let you walk to the start and which are better value, and at the end, a map of what is still available.
Where everything is over the weekend
- Start: in 2026 it was on Passeig de Gràcia, between Gran Via and Plaça de Catalunya, in waves from 8:30 until nearly 10:00. That is where this guide’s walking times are measured from; the organisers will confirm the 2027 course.
- Finish: in 2026, on Passeig de Lluís Companys, next to the Arc de Triomf.
- Metro: Passeig de Gràcia (lines 2, 3 and 4) and Catalunya (lines 1 and 3) are right at the start; from the finish, Arc de Triomf (line 1).
- Bibs: at the Expo Sports fair, at the Fira de Barcelona on Montjuïc, on Thursday 11 (15:00 to 20:00), Friday 12 and Saturday 13 (10:00 to 20:00). No bibs are handed out on Sunday. The organisers will confirm the hall.

Right Eixample: right at the start, and you pay for it
Passeig de Gràcia runs through the Right Eixample, so there are places literally on the start line: 67 available, half of them less than 7 minutes on foot. The median, however, is €320 a night. Below that: Casa Lolita (score 8.7, 10 minutes) was €204 and Catalonia Gracia (score 8.5, 19 minutes) €208.
Gothic Quarter: sightseeing on Saturday, a walk on Sunday
From the Gothic Quarter it is a 6 to 23-minute walk up to Plaça de Catalunya. There were 36 places, almost all hotels, at a median of €323. Catalonia Avinyó (score 8.7) was €205 and Oriente Atiram (score 8.6) €226.
El Raval: the best balance of distance and price
Across the Ramblas, with a median of 11 minutes and 27 places, El Raval is €85 cheaper than the Right Eixample: a median of €235. Hostal Operaramblas (score 8.9) was €220, chic&basic Reding (score 8.5, 9 minutes) €231 and Mesón Castilla Atiram (score 8.7, 11 minutes) €236.
Fort Pienc and El Born: next to the finish
If you would rather have a shower close by when you finish, the Arc de Triomf finish sits next to these two areas. Fort Pienc had only 3 places left, but at a median of €208: SM Hotel Sant Antoni (score 8.8) was €205 and SM Hotel Teatre Auditori (score 8.8) €208. El Born and Sant Pere had 15 places at a median of €273; Pension Ciudadela (score 9.2) was €225.
Left Eixample and Sant Antoni: mid-range hotels a short walk away
West of Passeig de Gràcia there were 27 places, almost all hotels, at a median of €218 and 9 to 36 minutes on foot. Catalonia Gran Via BCN (score 8.9, 14 minutes) was €218 and Catalonia Diagonal Centro (score 8.6, 18 minutes) €228.
Gràcia, Poble-sec and Sant Gervasi: a little further
Gràcia is about half an hour down Passeig de Gràcia, with 13 places at a median of €222. Poble-sec, almost half an hour from the start but next to the bib expo, had 8 at €220: Onefam Paralelo (score 9.5) was €219. Sant Gervasi, more residential, had 16 at €208; Petit Hotel (score 8.5) was €164.
Which nights to book
Properties with free cancellation and a score of 7 or more on 1 November, for two adults:
| Nights | Places available | Median per night | Cheapest per night |
|---|---|---|---|
| Friday 12 to Sunday 14 (2 nights) | 691 | €233 | €118 |
| Saturday 13 to Sunday 14 (1 night) | 418 | €263 | €118 |
| Reference: Friday 19 to Sunday 21 (2 nights) | 889 | — | €102 |
- Friday and Saturday is the most comfortable option: the expo closes on Saturday at 20:00, and with two nights there is considerably more choice than with one (691 places against 418).
- A single Saturday night goes up to a median of €263.
- The race pushes the city’s prices up by 20%, comparing the same properties with the following weekend. Barcelona is expensive all year round: what runs out first is what is close to the start.
Five things to check before you pay
- Free cancellation and its deadline. The race is more than four months away: book with free cancellation and note the last day you can cancel.
- Breakfast at 7:00: with an 8:30 start, ask whether they serve it earlier on Sunday.
- How you will get to the expo: Montjuïc is a fair way from the Eixample; metro line 3 drops you at Espanya.
- Saturday night noise in the Gothic Quarter and El Raval: ask for a room at the back.
- Check-out time: if you finish around midday, a late check-out lets you shower without rushing.

How we got these prices
We searched Booking on 1 November 2026 for two adults in one room, for three stays: Friday 12 to Sunday 14 and Saturday 13 to Sunday 14 March, plus the following weekend as a reference. We filtered for free cancellation and a score of 7 or more, and combined the results sorted by price, score, distance and Booking’s own recommendations. The price is the one any user sees, without loyalty discounts; the price per night is the total divided by the nights. Walking times are measured along real streets from the 2026 start on Passeig de Gràcia, at an easy pace. We left out beds in shared rooms and anything more than 15 kilometres away. For the reference search we only collected part of the results, so we give no median there and compare prices property by property. Prices change daily.
The accommodation map in this guide contains affiliate links: if you book through it, RunningValencia receives a small commission at no extra cost to you.
