Plan your race pace

The 2027 TCS Amsterdam Marathon is on Sunday 31 October, two weeks later than usual: it is normally held on the third Sunday of October (in 2026 it was the 18th). The weekend starts on Saturday 30 with the 7.5K, and on Sunday the half marathon is run alongside the marathon.

It is one of Europe’s most popular marathons with travelling runners: flat, fast, starting and finishing inside the 1928 Olympic Stadium, with a course through the Vondelpark, along the river Amstel and through the city centre.

Key facts for 2027

  • Date: Sunday 31 October 2027 (race weekend 30–31 October).
  • Start: at 9:00, inside the Olympic Stadium or on Stadionweg next to it, in waves by expected finish time.
  • Finish: inside the Olympic Stadium.
  • Time limit: six hours.
  • Entries: according to the official website, they open on 19 December 2026. Some third-party sites say the 20th: check the official site on the day.
  • Organiser: TCS Amsterdam Marathon (tcsamsterdammarathon.eu).

The course

From the stadium, the marathon soon enters the Vondelpark, crosses the centre and heads south along the river Amstel for many kilometres, the prettiest section and also the most exposed to the wind. The return runs through residential neighbourhoods before heading back to the stadium to finish on the track, one of the most special finishes in Europe. The profile is flat and the course record is under 2:04, which shows how fast it can be in good conditions.

What matters most in Amsterdam is the wind and, at the end of October, cold and rain. Being two weeks later than usual, 2027 may be cooler than other editions.

Logistics for international runners

  • Getting to the start: the stadium is in the south of the city, well served by tram and metro.
  • Bib collection: at the runners’ expo in the days before the race.
  • Where to stay: Amsterdam is expensive and fills up; the south (Oud-Zuid, Zuid) keeps you close to the stadium, and the centre is a few minutes away by public transport. We will publish an accommodation guide with real prices a few months before the race.
