The Marató dels Dements will decide the 2026 Skyrunner World Series this Saturday, 7 November, in Eslida, with Sara Alonso and Manuel Merillas among the leading contenders in a final covering 42 kilometres and 3,903 metres of elevation gain. The start is scheduled for 7:30 and the official website offers live tracking via LiveTrail.
Alonso arrives as the leader of the women’s standings and will be champion if she finishes in the top four. Merillas starts third in the men’s overall standings, behind José Manuel Quispe and Frédéric Tranchand, in a final offering double points.
How to follow the Marató dels Dements live
Live tracking of the Marató dels Dements 2026 is available via LiveTrail on the race’s official website. The race is the SkyMasters, the final of a series comprising 19 races in 12 countries across four continents.
La Dements hosts the final for the third consecutive year. Following the previous 18 races, the Eslida event will determine the men’s and women’s overall standings.
A course through the Serra d’Espadà
The programme lists the Polideportivo de Eslida, on calle Príncep Felip, as the starting point. The course runs through the Serra d’Espadà Natural Park in Castellón and also includes 3,903 metres of descent.
Points on the route include Alto de la Costera, Puntal de l’Aljub, Pico Espadán and Barranc del Roig. The organisers redesigned the course with the Natural Park and environmental authorities after the July wildfire affected part of the usual route.
Sara Alonso defends her lead
Alonso leads the women’s overall standings with 500 points, ahead of Amanda Nilsson on 431 and Svetlana Nurmukhametova on 428. All three are confirmed for the final. Natalie Beadle is fourth with 405 points, Eva Delafosse fifth with 382 and Patricia Pineda sixth with 380.
The leader has won four races in the series: Acantilados del Norte, Calamorro, Gorbeia Suzien and Sobrescobio. In the latter, she won in a course record time of 3:14:02. Pineda, meanwhile, was third in both the Dements and the overall standings in 2025.
Merillas third in the men’s overall standings
José Manuel Quispe leads the men’s standings with 478 points, followed by Frédéric Tranchand with 463 and Manuel Merillas with 447. All three are confirmed for the SkyMasters.
Merillas won the Dements in 2025 ahead of Luca Del Pero and Tranchand, while Quispe finished fourth. Del Pero won the overall series title that year.
At Sobrescobio, Tranchand won on 24 October in a record time of 2:39:14. Merillas finished fourth in that race.
SkyMasters points and prizes
The final awards 200 points to each winner, 170 for second place, 153 for third and 138 for fourth. Four results from the season plus the SkyMasters count towards the final standings, and athletes must finish the SkyMasters to be eligible for the overall standings. In the event of a tie, the higher placing in the final decides.
The four season results can combine two red races and two white races, or one red and three white. White races award 100 points to the winner and red races 150. Only athletes who qualify through the series with a minimum of four races are eligible for overall standings points and prizes.
The race awards 15,200 euros in prize money: each winner receives 1,600 euros and the top ten men and top ten women receive cash prizes, regardless of how they qualified. The overall standings distribute a further 70,000 euros among the top ten in each category, with 12,000 euros for each champion.
The programme continues with the Mitja dels Dements
Saturday’s programme at the Nave Multiusos de Eslida includes the Open awards at 16:30, the overall and SkyMasters awards at 19:30 and, at 19:45, the Skyrunner World Series awards and closing ceremony.
On Sunday, 8 November, the Mitja dels Dements d’Aín takes place. Race number collection is scheduled from 6:30 to 7:45 at the Ayuntamiento de Aín; the start, at 8:00, and the awards, at 13:30, will be held in plaza José Sorribes Fuster. Both races have sold out.
