The Spanish Federation of Mountain Sports and Climbing (FEDME) published the official 2027 calendar on Friday 6 November, with 16 races at 15 venues. The mountain running season will begin on 6 March with the IX Trail Orixes in Mondariz and end on 13 November with Costa Blanca Trails in Finestrat.
The events will be held across twelve autonomous communities and Andorra. The programme includes Spanish Ultra, Classic and Vertical Cups, as well as national championships for individuals, autonomous community teams, clubs and stage racing, alongside championships for blind runners and the children’s and cadet categories.
Ultra: from Mondariz to the Finestrat final
The IX Trail Orixes in Pontevedra will open the Spanish Ultra Cup and host the Spanish Individual and Autonomous Community Team Ultra Championships. The second Cup race will be the Otso Travessa d’Encamp on 29 May in Encamp, Andorra.
The Ultra competition will conclude in Alicante with Costa Blanca Trails, which will also decide the Spanish Ultra Club Championship. Finestrat appears twice on the calendar: as well as the November event, it will host Puig Campana in April.
Classic: seven events and a final in Balmaseda
The XIII Abades Stones will be the first Classic event of the year, on 14 March in Loja, Granada, hosting the Spanish Individual and Autonomous Community Team Championships. The Spanish Cup for the discipline will begin on 5 June with the Mazucator Sky, in Villa de Mazo on La Palma, although the FEDME poster places it in Tenerife.
On 19 June, the Garmin Epic Trail Maratón will host the Spanish Classic Club Championship in la Vall de Boí, Lleida. After the competition break in July and August, the Cup will return on 26 September with the Roller Master in La Unión, Murcia.
Three Cup events will be held in October: Quebrapates on the 16th in Pola de Laviana, Asturias; CxM Alhama Trail on the 23rd in Cervera del Río Alhama, La Rioja; and the Kolitza Balma Trail on the 31st in Balmaseda, Bizkaia. The La Rioja race will also host the Spanish Championship for Blind Runners, while the Balmaseda event will be the fifth and final Cup race.
Vertical: four races with titles and a Cup
The Spanish Vertical Cup will have three races. The first will be the KV Tagoja on 20 March in La Palma. The KV Fuente Dé in Cantabria follows on 15 May and will also host the Spanish Vertical Club Championship.
Between the two events, on 18 April, Puig Campana will host the Spanish Vertical Kilometre Championship for individuals and autonomous community teams. The Cup final will be held on 18 September with the XIII KV de Las Hurdes in Ladrillar, Cáceres.
Younger categories and the stage racing championship
The Desafío Calar del Río Mundo will bring together the children’s and cadet categories on 24 and 25 April in Riópar, Albacete, for their Spanish Championship.
Meanwhile, the Califa Mountain Festival will bring the Spanish Stage Racing Championship to Córdoba from 1 to 3 October. Andalucía, Canarias and the Comunitat Valenciana will each have two races across the calendar.
