XXXVII Torremolinos Half Marathon: date, route and registration
Everything known about the 2027 coastal event: route, schedule, bib collection, prices and participant services.

Torremolinos will once again become one of Andalusia’s main settings for mass-participation athletics on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2027. The 37th edition of its half marathon will bring up to 2,750 runners together on a 21.097-kilometer urban course, with the start and finish around Calle de la Cruz and a route combining the town center with sections close to the seafront.
The race is certified by the Andalusian Athletics Federation and retains the international character that has accompanied recent editions. Organizers expect athletes from more than 20 countries, with foreign participation potentially accounting for about half of the field. Registration starts at 15 euros in the early phases and reaches 20 euros during the final period, although the definitive conditions must be confirmed in the official call.
Details about the event can also be found in the popular races calendar and the race map, two useful resources for placing the event within the national season.
A well-established half marathon on the Costa del Sol
The Torremolinos race is not a recent addition to the calendar. Its 37th edition confirms the continuity of an event with several decades of history and a recognizable place in Málaga’s road-running calendar. Its appeal is not based only on entry numbers: runners can also compete in winter beside the Mediterranean, in a city accustomed to welcoming visitors all year round.
The 21.097-kilometer course crosses streets and avenues across the town, passing through urban areas, tree-lined sections and areas close to the coast. This combination offers something different from a purely central half marathon: for several kilometers, runners find open coastal views; elsewhere, the route narrows between buildings, shops and cheering points.
Organizers expect 2,750 participants, the planned limit for the race. This creates a substantial field without turning the event into an excessively crowded mass race. Runners seeking a personal best benefit from official certification; others will value the chance to complete a classic distance in an atmosphere that is more festive than competitive.
Date, start and key race details
The XXXVII Torremolinos Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2027. The start will be located on Calle de la Cruz, beside the Centro Cultural Pablo Ruiz Picasso, in a central and easily recognizable area. Some calendar references place the start at 9:30 a.m., while municipal information about the event points to 9 a.m.; the final time should therefore be checked in the regulations and organizers’ communications before travelling.
The finish will be in the same area around Calle de la Cruz. This location simplifies the logistics of an event that concentrates bib collection, start, finish and many post-race services there. It also allows spectators to move around the center on foot without covering long distances between the main points.
The announced time limit for the 21.097 kilometers is two hours and 30 minutes. That equals an average pace of roughly 7:07 minutes per kilometer. It is not a demanding limit for a recreational runner with basic preparation, but it does require a degree of consistency, especially if coastal wind or crowding affects the opening kilometers.
Between the town center and the coast
The route is presented as an urban and coastal circuit, with a profile generally suited to runners who prefer asphalt. It travels along Torremolinos’ main streets and avenues and includes a section beside the seafront. References from previous editions mention La Carihuela, Bajondillo, Playamar and Los Álamos, although the exact 2027 route should be treated as provisional until the definitive map is published.
The scenery can change quickly. City noise accompanies the opening stages, followed by the wider view of the coast and then the return to urban avenues. This alternation breaks the monotony of completely straight out-and-back courses and gives runners different stimuli when their legs begin to feel the distance after kilometer 15.
Certification means that the 21.097 kilometers meet the official half-marathon distance. It does not, however, guarantee a personal best. Wind, crowd density, turns and road conditions can influence performance as much as elevation. The advantage is having a measured distance that can be compared with other certified races.
Registration, prices and the field limit
Registration costs between 15 and 20 euros. The lower fee applies during the early or advance-payment period, while the price rises as race day approaches. The announced registration deadline is Jan. 31, 2027, although entries could close earlier if the limit of 2,750 bibs is reached.
The difference between the two fees matters to runners who register early, but it should not be understood as a final all-inclusive price for every phase. Registration platforms may add handling charges, and the conditions can change when the final regulations are released. The amount displayed during the booking process will determine the actual entry cost.
The main distance is intended for adults. Previous editions established age groups and specific recognition for forms of participation such as wheelchair and handbike racing. For 2027, those categories must be confirmed in the official regulations. Registering means accepting the race conditions, the assigned bib and the instructions related to safety and timing.
What the entry package includes
The planned package includes a technical shirt, race bag, cap and arm warmers, as well as promotional material from partner organizations. The exact contents may change, but the package is designed as a set of race-related clothing and accessories, not merely a bib and timing service.
Other expected services include aid stations, medical assistance, baggage storage and a finish-area service zone. Previous editions mentioned hydration and support points at approximately five-kilometer intervals, together with water, fruit and isotonic drinks in different areas. The final distribution will appear on the 2027 services map.
A race bag can be useful, but it does not replace individual planning. Over 21 kilometers, every participant should understand their own hydration, fueling and clothing needs according to the forecast. The presence of aid stations does not mean all runners should consume the same products or at the same moments.
Bib collection and race-morning logistics
Bib collection is expected to take place at the Centro Cultural Pablo Ruiz Picasso. The announced Saturday schedule includes 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. An exceptional same-day collection window has also been considered, from 8 to 9 a.m., although that may be tight if the start is finally set for 9 or 9:30 a.m.
Early collection is the most sensible option for anyone not living in Torremolinos. It avoids race-morning pressure, allows runners to locate the start calmly and reduces the risk of delays caused by traffic restrictions. Participants should bring identification and check that the bib details match their registration. Collection by another person, if permitted, will depend on the organizer’s conditions.
The cultural center is beside the start and finish area, simplifying movements before and after the race. Sunday traffic restrictions will nevertheless affect the surrounding streets. Local police will establish alternative routes, but private-car access may be slower than usual during the morning.
Aid stations, time limit and safety
A 21.097-kilometer race requires a well-distributed support network. Available information points to aid stations at different points on the route and signs showing runners their position. Federation judges, local police, Civil Protection and volunteers form a safety chain that must remain active from the start until the course closes.
The 2:30 limit also determines when services are opened and withdrawn. Runners close to that limit should follow split times and staff instructions. Maintaining an even pace is more useful than starting too quickly and paying for it later. On an urban route, turns and surface changes can also alter perceived effort.
Runners must display their bib and use only the assigned timing chip. Swapping bibs, shortening the course or finishing under another participant’s registration can result in disqualification. These rules are not merely administrative: they identify every participant, keep classifications accurate and allow a faster response to medical incidents.
A competitive race with a broad atmosphere
The event includes trophies for the top three male and female finishers in each category, according to the regulations issued by the organizers. Previous editions also included overall awards, recognition for local runners and distinctions for clubs. The final 2027 awards must be checked in the edition’s official rules.
The presence of international athletes gives the race a distinctive character. Torremolinos is an international tourist destination, and its half marathon benefits from visitors who want to run during a stay on the Costa del Sol. The result is a field with different languages, local clubs and runners who use the competition as a way to discover the city at running pace.
The front of the race will involve tactics and pace, while other participants will have very different goals. Some will chase a personal best, others will be starting the distance and many will run without watching the clock beyond the split points. This mixture explains the atmosphere of popular half marathons: strategy at the front, conversation in the middle and perseverance all the way to the finish.
Torremolinos as a winter running destination
February on the Costa del Sol offers conditions different from those found in much of inland Spain. Temperatures are often moderate, but the weather can change and coastal wind may be noticeable. Being beside the sea does not guarantee a warm morning or rule out rain. Race clothing should be chosen from the forecast in the days beforehand, not only from the town’s tourist image.
The route makes it possible to combine the event with a weekend stay. Torremolinos has extensive hotel options and links to Málaga by public transport and road. Its proximity to the airport also helps runners arriving from other provinces or countries, which helps explain the event’s international participation.
After the race, the area offers Mediterranean walks, restaurants and quick access to other parts of the province. The town becomes more than the place where the start is installed: it is the setting for a sporting experience that begins with bib collection, continues along its avenues and ends beside the sea.
Preparing for the distance and the course
A half marathon requires different preparation from a 5K or 10K race. Mileage should not be increased abruptly. Preparation should include progressive runs, controlled-pace sessions and recovery days. The aim is not to finish every workout exhausted, but to build consistent weeks so that 21 kilometers do not feel like a wall after halfway.
The urban and coastal profile may encourage runners to start too quickly, especially on a broad avenue. That early ease can be deceptive. A sustainable pace during the first five kilometers leaves room to handle route changes and reach the closing section with more control. The race is often decided in the least photogenic kilometers, when the seafront is behind and fatigue has settled in.
Equipment does not need to be exceptional. Familiar shoes, tested socks and clothing suited to the forecast are usually more important than new gear. Race day is not the time to experiment with footwear, gels or clothing that has never been used. Over a long distance, comfort becomes a quiet form of performance.
Traffic, mobility and spectators
The event will alter traffic in central Torremolinos and on roads connected to the course. Restrictions will be especially relevant during the start, the passage of the main field and the arrival of the final participants. Residents and visitors should check municipal notices and allow more time than usual for travel.
For spectators, the start and finish location makes it possible to watch the race from several nearby points. The seafront and some avenues provide spaces to see runners without crossing the course. Barriers and staff instructions must be respected, since stepping into the road can endanger both spectators and athletes.
Public transport may be simpler than driving to the center. Nearby parking can also fill early. Good planning means locating the bib area, baggage storage, toilets and start pen before the field becomes crowded.
A 2027 edition balancing tradition and renewal
The XXXVII Torremolinos Half Marathon approaches its next edition with a recognizable formula: certified distance, central start, coastal route and a substantial field. The organizational challenge will be maintaining flow through busy urban areas and publishing final information about schedules, bibs, services and any route changes with enough notice.
For runners, the event offers the chance to compete in a city experienced in sporting events and framed by an unusual winter setting. The Mediterranean may accompany them for several kilometers, but the result will depend on less photogenic factors: consistent training, pace management, weather and the ability to save energy for the closing stretch.
With a limit of 2,750 participants and prices between 15 and 20 euros, the event sits between a local race and a major international meeting. That scale is part of its appeal. Torremolinos does not need to turn its streets into a stadium to offer a race with its own identity: the road, the sea and the pulse of the field only need to meet again on Feb. 7, 2027.
