Valencia’s 10K Fem moves to February in 2027
The Valencia event moves to February to avoid festival restrictions and keep its place on the city’s running calendar.

The next edition of the Carrera 10KFem will take place in Valencia on Sunday, February 21, 2027. For the first time, this popular women’s 10-kilometer race will be held in February. The move responds to the Fallas calendar and municipal restrictions on public-street events during that period.
The event, now entering its 13th edition, will retain its distance and its aim of encouraging women to take part in sport. Organizers have yet to announce when registration will open, which charity will receive participants’ contributions or what changes the event will introduce. For now, the date is the main confirmed detail for runners planning their 2027 race calendar.
A different date for an established race
The move to February is a visible change to the schedule, but not a transformation of the event. Runners will again gather on the streets of central Valencia to complete a 10-kilometer course. In recent editions, the race has attracted around 3,000 participants, making it one of Spain’s notable women’s running events.
The February 21 date places the race several weeks before the period when Fallas restrictions affect street events. Since 2025, a municipal decree has limited these activities from the Crida until March 19, the feast day of Saint Joseph. That framework leaves less room to stage a large race on public roads during the central weeks of the festival.
The 2027 edition will therefore be the first time the 10KFem has moved away from March since its launch. The change should not be mistaken for a different distance or a newly announced format: available information confirms a calendar change, while the remaining event details are due to be released later.
Fallas and Easter shape the calendar
The decision is not based on Fallas alone. Easter’s proximity in 2027 also reduces the dates available for a race that uses city streets and requires coordination with municipal services. On an urban calendar, festivals are not merely dates on a page: they affect traffic closures, access, logistics and the ability to bring thousands of people into the same public space.
Organizers and the Municipal Sports Foundation agreed to set the race for February 21, a date close to March that avoids the Fallas restriction period. The arrangement keeps the race in the first part of the year and avoids the concentration of March events pushing it to a much later point in its usual calendar slot.
The 2027 calendar creates an unusual fit. The race will take place before Fallas rather than in March, as it did in previous editions. The reason for the earlier date is organizational: it has not been attributed to changes in participation, a revised course or a decision related to runners’ performance.
A race focused on women’s running
The 10KFem was created to encourage more women to take part in sport and to expand their presence at every level of sporting life. Its format combines a popular race open to runners with different levels of experience with a broader message: running, competing and having a voice in sports decision-making belong in the same conversation.
The event is organized by Nosotras Deportistas, with support from public and private organizations. Its women-only format sets it apart in a popular-race calendar where events open to all participants are more common. Organizers describe it as the first women’s 10-kilometer race and the only homologated event in this category in Spain, according to information released about the race.
That focus does not mean every participant arrives with the same training or pursues the same result. For some, completing the 10 kilometers may be the main goal; for others, the race offers a chance to compete or share a morning of sport. The range of participants helps explain why the event combines a sporting format with a wider sense of collective involvement.
Ten kilometers through the streets of Valencia
The announced distance for the event is 10 kilometers, on an urban course through central Valencia. Available information does not yet provide the exact 2027 route, so intersections, avenues, the start point and the finish location cannot be treated as confirmed. Those details are important for planning travel and should be awaited in the organizers’ announcement.
In an urban race, the course affects runners and anyone else moving around the city that day. Road closures, pedestrian access and public-transport changes may depend on the final route and schedule, neither of which has been announced for this edition. Once the map is published, runners will be able to assess the course profile and plan how to reach the start area.
A 10-kilometer distance is a familiar benchmark for runners working toward pace goals, although results depend on factors such as training, weather and the final course layout. Until the 2027 route is published, the only safe assumptions are the distance and the Valencia location; details from earlier routes should not automatically be carried over to this edition.
Registration and details still to come
Organizers have said they will announce registration soon, but have not yet published the opening date, entry fee or number of places for 2027. They have also not named the charity that will receive participants’ contributions. As a result, there is no confirmed entry price to use when estimating registration costs.
Demand has been high in previous editions, which have brought together thousands of runners. That history helps explain the interest in the event, but it does not establish how many bibs will be available next time or predict when they may sell out. Participation numbers, registration terms and any additional places must be confirmed for 2027.
The start time, assembly point, updated rules and services included with registration are also unknown. These details can change from one edition to the next, so information from previous years should not be assumed to remain in force. The final announcement will distinguish official race conditions from estimates circulating before registration opens.
What the change means for runners and the city
Holding the race in February changes the setting for race day. The event will no longer coincide with the spring period in which recent editions took place and will be held several weeks before March. That may affect participants’ personal and training plans, although the start time and specific conditions for the day are still unknown.
For Valencia, bringing the event forward also reshapes how a large race fits into the city’s public-event calendar. Events of this size require coordination of permits, safety and transport. Scheduling the race outside the restricted period preserves room for sport in an agenda strongly shaped by Fallas celebrations and Easter.
The change of month cannot predict the weather or course conditions. February may bring a cool morning, but any forecast for race day would be premature so many months in advance. Runners will be able to fine-tune their plans closer to the date, once practical information is released, without confusing seasonal averages with a specific forecast.
An edition that retains the 10KFem’s purpose
The February move does not alter the race’s original aim: encouraging women to take part in sport and raising the visibility of women in running. Keeping the distance and the Valencia setting maintains the event’s connection to a format that has brought together runners from across Spain and other countries in previous editions.
The approximate figure of 3,000 participants gives an indication of the race’s scale, but it is not an official forecast for 2027. Actual participation will depend on registration, available places and runners’ response. The 13th edition still has details to settle, but its date already makes it possible to reserve a place in the sporting calendar.
Organizers will announce further details once they are final, including the charity connected to participants’ contributions. Until then, the confirmed change is specific and significant: the race will take place on February 21, before Fallas-related restrictions and in a year when Easter’s proximity narrows the March options.
February opens a new chapter in the calendar
The 2027 10KFem retains its 10 kilometers and its identity as a popular women’s race, but it will be held on an unprecedented date. The adjustment reflects a familiar reality for urban events: the sports calendar depends on festivals, permits and street availability, not just on each race’s tradition.
For runners, Sunday, February 21 is the first detail they can use in their planning. Registration, the course, start, price and services remain subject to official announcements. Caution is especially important when third-party listings show different dates or fees: the confirmed event information sets the race in February 2027.
The change of month creates a different edition without erasing the race’s history. If thousands of runners gather again, they will do so in a city preparing for its main festivals and on a day before the most restricted weeks in the calendar. The organizers’ next announcement will complete the picture of an event that, for the first time, will bring women’s running to Valencia in February.
